With VeeamON 2017 hastily approaching, I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of the things you can experience while over in New Orleans for the Availability event of 2017.
Content
The glue to any conference is the content, in the form of the keynote sessions and breakouts. With over 85 breakout sessions and different tracks, including technical, business, alliances, ProPartner and cloud tracks, there is sure to be something for everyone.
The breakouts will be presented by a mixture of our very own Veeam experts, IT community pros, Alliance partners and, of course, our Veeam customers. They will be touching on various topics around the Veeam Availability Platform for the Hybrid Cloud, best practices and some real-life scenarios.
My recommendations on sessions would be the following that span over all the different tracks available.
Anton Gostev, our vice president of product management, will be hosting a session around the best practices for today with VMware and Veeam. This session is always highly-attended, and this year will be no different.
The topic of ransomware is another session that is a recommendation. This will be presented by Rick Vanover, director of technical product marketing and Brian Maher, senior manager of alliance marketing.
From the cloud track, don’t miss the New Playbook for VCSP Partners session on Partner Day to learn about the latest Veeam products and product releases. This session will be presented by Paul Mattes, vice president of global cloud group and Danny Allen, vice president of cloud & alliance strategy.

My team, the Technical Product Marketing Team, is also contributing to that plethora of content with some of our own sessions, teaming up with the Product Management Team and our Alliance peers to deliver some deep-dive information on how our Availability message is achieved.
Clint Wyckoff will be delivering Veeam Availability Console and the Agents: Introduction and Technical Demo session. This will focus on live demonstrations and how these features can be used in your customers’ environments.
Anthony Spiteri, our cloud evangelist, will be teaming up with David Hill, a solution architect with VMware, and they will be discussing how to build a successful cloud service leveraging the VMware vCloud Air Network.
Michael White will be presenting on the problems and answers to Business Continuity and how Veeam plays a role there. This session will be touching on Veeam Availability Orchestrator and how this new Veeam product can enable you to start protecting your IT infrastructure.
Finally, I will be teaming up with Pete Flecha from VMware to talk about the new generation storage offerings and how Veeam can help protect those in a profile driven world.
Community
Community is very close and important to us at Veeam. My team has a strong focus on our community advocates and engaging in community events. Another key part to any event in our industry is interacting with people, networking and hearing other community member’s stories. If I was going to pick out three areas of community that you should interact with, they are below.
Veeam Vanguards
The Veeam Vanguards are the Veeam Community Advocates. Some of these guys work for our partners, alliances and customers. They interact by different ways and means from blogging about technical process within our software or from answering other community queries on our forums. Most of the group will be with us in New Orleans so be sure to hunt them down and have a chat with them.
You can get familiar with the current class of Vanguards along with their pictures and profile details in advance so you can easily find them at the event.
Existing Veeam customers and partners
Another great angle is the mixture of end users and partners, and getting that interaction with these is a priceless combination. Share your thoughts and feedback with your industry peers.
Podcast
The Veeam Community Podcast will be on the road capturing as much content as possible while we get the chance to interact with our IT community. If you see myself or Clint and you have something to say, then please come on over.
Certification
You will find yourself among IT pros, industry leaders and Veeam experts — the perfect environment for Veeam solutions learning. In case you are already a VMCE, you can attend the brand new VMCE-Advanced: Design & Optimization v1 (VMCE-ADO) course.
This year at VeeamON 2017, you will also have the chance to sit the exam on site while at the event. All training sessions will be running prior to the event, so you will not have to miss any of that great content.
